The Ridgeview Charter School Local School Advisory/Governing Board has the responsibility for setting enrollment limits each year. During the 2009-10 school year, we saw unprecedented growth in one school term. Our enrollment increased from about 600 students to over 740; we hired six additional teachers to support this growth.
For the 2010-11 school year, our projected enrollment is at 823. We will, once again, be hiring additional teachers to support these students. Most classrooms in our building will be fully utilized.
With these factors in mind and a focus on effectively managing this unprecedented growth in our school, the LSAC has voted to allow twenty (20) students from our secondary attendance zone (students outside the Ridgeview attendance zone but inside the Fulton County School System boundaries). Zero (0) students from the tertiary zone – outside the Fulton County School System boundaries – will be accepted this year.
Students currently enrolled at Ridgeview Charter School from outside our attendance zone are automatically carried forward to 2010-2011 by completing the applications for enrollment forms below. If you do not want your child to attend Ridgeview this coming school year, you must send a letter to the school principal by February 29, 2010, indicating that you will withdraw your student at the end of this school year.
Employees of Ridgeview Charter School: if you live outside our attendance zone and want to enroll your student, you need to complete an application and submit it by the deadline. Your student is automatically accepted and is not included in this set of 20 students. If your child is currently enrolled at RCS, you need to complete an application again.
Employees of Fulton County School System but NOT an employee at Ridgeview Charter School: if you have a student currently enrolled at Ridgeview, you must complete an application for a sibling to attend in 2010-11; that sibling will be given priority enrollment and will not count against the set of 20 students. If you do NOT currently have a child enrolled at Ridgeview, you must complete an application and submit it by the deadline; your application will be included with all others to be considered for the 20 spots and receives no priority.
ALL applications are due by Friday, February 26, 2010, at 4 p.m. Application postmarked by the U.S. mail has no bearing; the application must be in our school by 4 p.m. on the 26th. If there are more than 20 applications for enrollment at Ridgeview, we will have a lottery on March 2, 2010, at 3:45 pm in the Media Center .
